We ordered some floating shelves to fit in a recess in the wall, with 31 cm of usable space between them. They've wrecked the wall to install them. They've chipped away the paint completely. They say there's no other way to fit the shelves. I'm not a carpenter, but they didn't warn us that we'd have to repaint a freshly painted wall. Call me crazy, but I think there must be ways to protect the wall if they know they're going to chip the paint; painter's tape comes to mind.
